Edina's Best Takeout Food
It’s the month when we’ve all had just about enough of winter. The slippery roads at rush hour, the shoveling and snow blowing, and the biting air that takes your breath away will all give way to a spring melt, sooner rather than later (we hope). Until then, having dinner delivered sounds pretty nice. Or, at least, having it quick and ready with one stop on the way home. So, until that case of spring fever hits and you just can’t stay in any longer, we’ve got some delivery and takeout options you’re going to love.
Mediterraneo Pizza
Fans of the tender-crusted woodfired pizza at Mozza Mia should be jumping for joy. New this year, the pizzas are now available par-baked for carryout. Stick them in a preheated 500-degree oven for 5–7 minutes once you get home and buon appetito! Be sure the tell staff that you want it par-baked when you call in your order. The latest menu (note, menus are now changing seasonally) includes a hearty, tangy Mediterraneo ($14), with spicy salami, goat feta, olive, capers, artichoke and pepperoncini, and a Provencal ($12), with olive tapenade, tomato confit, bufala mozzarella and basil.

Shrimp with Lobster Sauce
Red Pepper Chinese restaurant delivers for free within a three-mile radius at lunch and dinner, as long as you order at least $15 worth of chow. Go with the shrimp in lobster sauce, sautéed with mushrooms, green peas and baby corn ($7.50/small or $10.99/large). While it might be more of an Americanized dish, customers also love the sweet and sour chicken ($11.99), stir-fried with green peppers and pineapple.

Hours: 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Mon.–Thurs., 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Fri.–Sat.
Penne with Italian Sausage
One of your favorite casual Italian spots for eat-in or take-out is now offering delivery. Favorites like penne with Italian sausage ($11.99) or oven roasted garlic shrimp over spaghetti aglio ($11.99) can now be scheduled for delivery up to seven days in advance for same day delivery or delivery throughout the week. There is a $10 minimum and a $2 delivery charge. Delivery ranges within about three miles of the 50th and France location and service begins at 4 p.m. The items mentioned above travel well and tend to be popular for takeout, in addition to the caesar salad ($4.99/side salad, $7.69/entrée or $9.99 with chicken) and pan-roasted salmon ($13.59). Dressing for salads is always done on the side.

Salted Caramel Cupcake
If you can’t be there to celebrate a friend’s birthday in person, show how much you care with cupcakes. Sweet Retreat owner Robin Johnson says the store has delivered cupcake orders for birthdays, new babies, loss of pets and even breakups (with stickers that say, “He is dumb. Eat a cupcake!”). It’s one heck of an alternative to sending flowers, with a $25 delivery fee (within 15 miles) and a minimum order of one dozen cupcakes. Cupcakes are priced at $3, but they throw in a freebie when you buy a dozen, priced at $33. Mini-cupcakes are another option, priced at $1.50 each or $17 for the dozen. The addictive favorites include salted caramel, coconut, and choczilla—a chocolate cupcake topped with vanilla buttercream. Have one of these special packages delivered to someone’s home or office and you’ll have a friend for life.
