Edina Concert Band POPS Presents: The Roaring 20's

The Edina Concert Band, directed by Paul Kile, will take the audience back a century for a musical adventure at the 67th annual POPS concert. Themed "The Roaring 20’s," students in the top band at Edina High School will showcase their talents and creativity with music, singing, dancing, comedy performances, and more. One Voice Mixed Chorus presents Bayard Rustin: The Man Behind the Dream

Join One Voice in honoring the life and work of gay, African American civil rights activist Bayard Rustin with The Man Behind the Dream, a commissioned work that tells the story of Rustin’s early years growing up as a Quaker, singer, athlete and activist who became a mentor to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and organizer of the 1963 March on Washington. Composer Steve Milloy uses two story-guides, the full chorus, and a 5-piece band to chronicle Rustin’s influence on Dr. King’s strategy of peaceful protest and pays tribute to current day activists. Edina Chorale Concert: Beyond the Veil: Songs of Love, Loss and Life

The Edina Chorale will be presenting Beyond the Veil: Songs of Love, Loss and Life, celebrating the love and legacy of those who have gone before and our continued life after loss. The concert begins with a love story, revealing the limits of time and the importance of connection. The central work, “Lux Aeterna” by Morten Lauridsen is a stunning requiem setting that finds light and consolation in grief.
