Local photographer finds peace at Nine Mile Creek.

Each month, we feature a photo from our Images of Edina photo contest. This month, we asked photographer Alison Pence to tell us about her photo titled Urban Tranquility that she submitted to our contest in 2018.

What is your background in photography?
I do not have a background in photography. I was just out on an early morning walk with my dog on the new Nine Mile Creek Regional trail bridge when I came across a scene that I wanted to make sure to remember.

What inspired this particular photograph?
As I came around the corner and saw the full expanse of the bridge before me with the fog still lingering on the creek bed, I was awestruck by the beauty and serenity of this new trail … I quickly snapped the picture so I could remember how beautiful the experience was that morning.

What type of camera do you use?
This picture was taken on an iPhone 8.

What types of pictures do you typically take?
As the parent of three busy boys, most of the pictures I take are of my boys in action.

What prompted you to enter the Images of Edina photo contest?
After I took the picture, I posted it on a Facebook group related to the Nine Mile Creek trail, and someone there suggested I enter it into the contest.
