Taste of Greece - Minneapolis Greek Festival

The Taste of Greece is held on the eastern bluffs of Lake Calhoun at St Mary's Greek Orthodox Church.  Join for food, drinks, live music, Greek dancers, homemade desserts, Church tours, cultural demonstrations, a marketplace and a kids' area.  Bring 3 non-perishable food items for 2 tickets ($2) to benefit a local food shelf. 

Fall into the Arts Festival

An abundance of sculpture, handcrafted jewelry, photography, wearable art and more will be on display, with over 200 vendors attending. Crowds have topped 20,000 in past years so be prepared for a lively weekend full of art. Proceeds from the festival go to the Edina Crime Prevention Fund.  Take your sweetie, your friends or your family to Centennial Lakes Park to enjoy a movie outdoors. August is the last month to take advantage of this outdoor activity until next summer. Uptown Art Fair

The Uptown Art Fair in Minneapolis is the winner of more than 115 International Festivals and Events Association Awards, and it isn’t hard to see why. The Art Fair is three days of creative fun, from art activities to wine tasting to a Culinary Arts competition. There is non-stop entertainment ranging from reggae to magic on the performance stage, and festival food galore. The main star of the show, however, is the art: ranging from limited editions to one-of-a-kind treasures from more than 350 talented artists from around the world. Free. Summer Music Series

Color Drawing Workshop

Learn color gradation techniques through simple blending exercises with a color pencil that you will later apply with pastel, pen, ink and watercolor. Dr. Mary McNaughton leads this fun, informative workshop, and offers materials for adult students to try before purchasing. Summer Art Academy

This is a fun, five-week program for focused youth artists. Instructor Anne Spooner covers the basics of drawing and painting, while offering individual guidance to each student. Music in Edina

A working group of the Edina Arts and Culture Commission has worked long and hard to bring residents a summer concert series during the month of July. Gary Louris Live at the Hilde

We’ve all had those moments during the long frigid winter where we closed our eyes and pictured a balmy evening spent listening to strands of live music melt into the warm summer breeze.  It helped us survive the cold (and yes, despite our moments of doubt, we did), and now the fun is finally beginning.

‘Maarja Roth: Birds & Winged Beings’

The Edina Art Center hosts this solo exhibition featuring the works of artist and teacher Maarja Roth, whose art focuses on flight and color. The show includes Hummingbird, Raven, Dragonfly, Hawk, Monarch, Oriole, and Luna Moth. Free.
