DESCRIPTION:Rally to Reverse Rett Minneapolis is a fundraising event hoping to create a world without Rett syndrome\, a severe condition of the nervous system affecting 1 in 10\,000 females. Local supporters will gather to raise funds to benefit Rett Syndrome Research Trust (RSRT)\, a national nonprofit focusing on the acceleration of full spectrum research for a cure and empowering families with information\, knowledge and connectivity. \nThe Minneapolis event is organized by four local families affected by Rett syndrome. Two honorees living with Rett\, Kate Backer and Lauren Stevens\, will be a part of the event\, and there will be tributes in loving memory of Elli Anderson and Sara Bea whose lives were taken far too soon by this terrible disorder. All event contributions will go directly to RSRT\, which is currently undertaking two human clinical trials in gene replacement\, an extremely promising approach.

DESCRIPTION:Test your skills at the Edina Football Combine Event on August 6. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to take part in a skills combine that will test their speed\, agility\, passing\, catching\, and strength. \nAthletes will also receive position-specific training from quarterback and wide receiver coaches from Quarterback Football Training (QBFT) and TNT Academy. \nThis event is an open-house format\, so come by any time to complete your testing. After testing\, EFA welcomes all athletes to stay for pick-up games and fun interactions with the Edina Varsity Football players. \nThis event is free for any 4th-8th grade athlete who is registered for Edina Football for the Fall 2023 season (tackle and flag football). If you’re not registered for football\, there will be a $25 fee to participate. This fee is refundable if you register for football for the upcoming season! \nCombine Skills/ Stations \nCombine Tests: 20-yard dash\, shuttle drill\, 5-10-5\, broad jump\, push-ups\, vertical jump. \nSkills: Pass & catch \nEach player will receive a Personalized Assessment Report. DESCRIPTION:Over 100 skaters will perform in the 55th annual Braemar Ice Show. \nOn April 21 and 22\, members of the Braemar City of Lakes Figure Skating Club will perform in the 55th annual Braemar Ice Show. Performances will be at 6:30 p.m. both days\, at the West Arena. \nThe theme for this year’s show is Our Favorite Fairy Tales. About 125 skaters will participate in group and solo performances\, with skaters ranging in age from 4 to 18. “That’s some of our high-level award winners right down to our city class kids\, who are just beginning Learn to Skate [classes]\,” says Holly Dau\, president of the skating club. \nThe club has nine graduating seniors\, all of whom will have a featured performance in the show. One of those seniors\, Ashley Blanton\, also designed the programs and posters for the show. \n“It’s a big production … where there’s numbers and choreography and ways that it all fits together\,” Dau says. “This is one of the biggest shows we’ve had in years\, which is amazing … you don’t have to pay a ridiculous amount to see a really professionally produced show. This is right here in our community\, showcasing our kids.” \nThe performances are open to the public\, and tickets can be purchased through figure skating club members or on the day of the ice show at the arena.
