A working group of the Edina Arts and Culture Commission has organized a summer concert series showcasing a variety of musical acts on Friday nights at Rosland Park.
Musician and long-time Edina resident Paul Peterson, known for his membership in bands including the Family, the Steve Miller Band and the Time, formed the Music in Edina working group to develop community music events. “I’ve lived in Edina for 18 years,” Peterson says, “and I was not aware of any community event that involves music.” When he saw there was an opening in the Arts and Culture Commission, Peterson decided, “Well, I’m going to change that.”
Peterson stresses that the summer concert series is merely a starting point for what will become an ongoing music program. The working group plans to organize a winter concert series and also hopes to create a platform to help develop youth talent.
