Best of Edina 2015
Your winners of the 2015 Best of Edina revealed…

Edina is one of the best communities in the Twin Cities. Good governance, great schools and a convenient location near Minneapolis and other desirable metro locales are among many of the city’s attractive attributes. But it’s the local restaurants, shops and service providers in Edina that make this community a well-regarded destination for anyone in search of quality products, delectable food and impeccable customer service. Shopping and dining options are spectacular in Edina. And if you’re on the hunt for a home remodeler, interior designer, dentist or childcare provider, Edina is home to some of the finest service providers in the metro area—and our annual readers’ choice survey sums up some of what’s best in Edina.

And since our city has been known to be cutting edge in all things from education to transportation, in this issue, we give an avant-garde nod to the burgeoning social media conversation surrounding what readers fancy. We’ve included a few hashtags with each of our categories. (For those less tech-savvy readers, a hashtag is a word or phrase preceded by a pound sign, used to help identify the people, places and things we love on our favorite social media platforms.) Feel free to spread the love by using these or your own hashtags, and take the discussion of these results to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. We love our readers and proudly present this special issue spotlighting the #BestOfEdina.

The 175-plus years of experience Westgate’s 10 veterinarians bring to the table might leave you wide-eyed at first, but the personal care associated with this level of expertise will make you and your pet feel at ease within moments—at least as comfortable as any pet can feel when visiting the vet. “We strive to develop a special bond between each pet and at least one or two of our doctors,” says Andrew Dunbar, office manager and pharmacologist. The large staff also allows for a wide range of services, everything from kitten kindergarten and puppy school to regular vaccinations and physical therapy to acupuncture and emergency services. #twopawsup

Laura Lee Halverson, Lili Salon Spa   3464 Galleria   952.935.5000
Specializing in style and color, Laura Lee Halverson, a stylist at Lili Salon Spa, says being a hairstylist goes beyond a haircut and color. “It’s the experience I get to create with another person,” the three-plus-year Lili team member says. “It’s kindness, listening and laughter. It’s loving what you do and who you are. It’s waking up every day and choosing to shine!” Lili’s director, Michelle Poirier, points out that the Galleria team is the notable takeaway for any client. “We truly care about creating new experiences with each visit,” she says. “We are happy, healthy people serving happy, healthy people through education, quality products and a personal connection.” #hairart #businessofbeauty

Best Nail Salon
Lili Salon Spa   3464 Galleria   952.935.5000
Trending right now in nail care, says director Michelle Poirier, are gel treatments that are more nail-friendly than classic acrylics, but that give a similar long-lasting effect. Splashes of rose-golds, cherry-reds and a dash of sparkle are top picks for nail colors. “The regular manicure is always a crowd pleaser if you aren’t ready to take the plunge into sparkle,” adds Cymbre Bistodeau, Lili Galleria nail director. “The Lili team finds joy and success from listening to our guests; they are the ones who create the path to each of our successes.” #manipeditime #sparkletoes

Best Insurance Agent
Celine Kitzenberg, Promus Financial Group   3600 Minnesota Drive, Suite 100   612.281.2345
Celine Kitzenberg’s motto is borrowed, but “I live and love it every day,” she says: If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life. This is the kind of commitment that makes her stand out among her clients as top insurance agent in Edina this year. A self-described “pleasantly persistent person,” she credits her connection to the community (she’s a 20-year resident who attended Valley View Middle School and golfed and swam for the Hornets) along with the fact that women are underrepresented in the insurance field as secrets to her success. #edinais1bigfamily #knowyourinsuranceneeds

The Spalon Montage flagship (and original) Edina location celebrates 25 years this September, and the secret to this success is the large space and ample offerings that can accommodate large groups as well as individuals, along with the experience and consistency that comes with longevity in the local industry. One especially exciting new treatment available at the Edina location, owner Mitchell Wherley says, is the SkinPen, a medical-grade micro-needling tool designed to naturally stimulate the skin to produce more collagen, aiding in cell rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction and stretch-mark elimination at the Minneapolis Plastic Surgeons-affiliated Carillon Clinic set up within the Edina store. #spaday #treatyourself
