The Edina Chorale Mid-Winter Concert: “Together We Rise”

“Together We Rise” celebrates music around the topics of unity, love, togetherness, equity, and action toward a more just and supportive world. “Each piece has been carefully chosen to lift up members of our communities whose stories and lives deserve to be heard and celebrated,” said EC’s Artistic Director, Paige Armstrong. New music by local composers such as Kyle Pederson’s Heartbeat, Jocelyn Hagen’s Belong, and Abbie Bettinis’ Love is Love along with other notable living composers such as Eric Whitacre’s Sing Gently and Melanie DeMore’s Lead with Love will represent the current climate of today. The choir will also present several familiar arrangements from iconic singer/songwriter legends such as Bob Dylan’s Times They Are A-Changin’ and Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young’s Teach the Children – songs of the past that influenced cultural change with messages that still resonate today. The concert ends with a hopeful message of a better world as the choir sings an arrangement by Robert T. Gibson of the legendary melody We Shall Overcome and finishes with an inspiring arrangement of the two songs I Love You/What a Wonderful World by Craig Hella Johnson.

“Together We Rise” recognizes the good that comes from caring for and embracing all the members of our communities, especially those that are often overlooked or underrepresented. The Edina Chorale hopes to inspire love, kindness, and acceptance for everyone through this concert. In keeping with the theme of togetherness, The Edina Chorale is excited to be recognizing one or two worthy charitable organizations for their amazing contributions and work in our communities with those in need. The chosen charities will be announced soon.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students. A live stream is also available for this concert on March 9th for those who aren’t able to attend in-person.
