Swan-shaped Paddle Boats

Photos: Centennial Lake Park

This park has plenty of fun things in store, from swan-shaped paddle boats to a flower planting extravaganza.

Centennial Lakes Park has new experiences and programming to get residents more involved at the park this spring and summer. We spoke with Tiffany Bushland, the general manager of Centennial Lakes, for more information.

Currently, the park is open 4–6:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and and 10 a.m.–6:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Starting May 4, the park is open every day from 10 a.m. to sunset.

Swan-shaped Paddle Boats

These paddle boats are the newest addition to the park’s selection of paddle boats and have already gained some ardent fans since their rollout in early April. Aside from their dreamy fairytale aesthetic, these particular boats are also a bit easier to get into than some of the other boats available.

$30 for 45 minutes. Available for rent during park hours.

Arbor Day Planting 100 Trees, April 26

Grab some gardening gloves, and get ready to get a little messy. Rain or shine, the Centennial Lakes Park is inviting volunteers to help plant trees in celebration of Arbor Day. The holes will be pre-dug, so no hard labor will be involved. There is also a limited supply of seedlings to take home and plant. Edina Liquor will be at the park offering beer and wine samples to volunteers who are 21+.

Noon–4 p.m.

Planting 125 Flower Pots, May 16

This new event invites volunteers to flex their green thumbs and help beautify Centennial Lakes Park, where 125 flower pots need filling, and volunteers’ efforts will be displayed all summer long. Compost made from the city’s curbside organics recycling program will be used for planting. Register online or show up the day of the event.

9 a.m. until all the flowers are planted.

History of Centennial Lakes Presentation, June 26

Centennial Lakes Park is a cornerstone of Edina’s history. All of the city’s development was built around the park.

This event, which kicks off with a 30-minute musical performance by Just Dave and the Rocking All Stars, will highlight Centennial Lakes Park’s place in Edina history. The panel discussion includes speakers who were originally involved in the development of Centennial Lakes.

Starts at 6:30 p.m.
