After the trick-or-treating is over, children walk back home with overflowing pails and sacks full of candy. Some homes don’t get enough trick-or-treaters and end up with half a bowl of leftover candy. Invariably, there is no way one family can possibly eat all the sweets. To save tooth enamel and prevent candy from lingering all year in the pantry, Dentistry for Children & Adolescents collects candy donations at its Edina office. Candy is distributed to area food shelves, local fire stations, veterans and the VA Health Care System. Last year, it collected more than 1,800 lbs. of treats. For more information on days it will accept donations, visit childrensdent.com or Instagram @dfcadent.
