Rebecca Peterson loves setting up photo shoots for her guinea pigs, themed around holidays, current events or celebrations. “They’ve done [COVID-19]-themed shoots, sporting shoots, celebrity-themed. (They love Taylor Swift, of course.) Sometimes, I will look to see what national day it is, and they will do a funny shoot with that,” the Edina resident says.
Pictured are Peterson’s guinea pigs, Teddy and Abe. The brothers are two pigs who love to pose. Their Instagram, run by Peterson, is filled with quirky and cute images, showing their individual personalities. The account has quickly racked up more than 9,000 followers.
Since this photo shown was taken, unfortunately, Teddy has passed due to pneumonia, a common but hard-to-treat illness for guinea pigs. Although Teddy is gone, his playful spirit continues to live on. Dave is a new addition to the family and he is carrying on Teddy’s legacy through his participation in photo shoots.
Peterson plans to continue sharing the pigs’ adventures on Instagram and possibly in the future through a calendar. “I would love to have sales benefit one of the rescues that we love,” she says. “For instance, Tiny Whiskers Animal Rescue, where we got Dave, as well as our two foster pigs, Baxter and Gaston.”
The future for the Petersons and their guinea pigs looks bright; more creative adventures are on the way and can be found at @kindaapigdeal on Instagram.
