Photo captures time’s ephemeral beauty and history’s everlasting reach.
Stephanie Thomas ran into Lunds & Byerlys on an errand and left with a magical photograph that made her 96-year-old father take a trip down memory lane.
“Although the clock tower wasn’t built until the late 1970s, the photo … conjured fond and vivid memories,” Thomas says. “When he was in high school during the 1940s, he stocked shelves and wrote prices on cans at National Tea, a grocery store that sat on the same site as the current Lunds & Byerlys. 50th & France has always been a special place, and that as it evolves, it will continue to be a place where people create lasting memories.”
