Edina Magazine is a proud sponsor of the EVOLVE spring fashion show.

Since making the move to 50th & France last spring, The Fitting Room has become a staple of the busy retail district. “We have felt very welcomed and supported with new and repeat customers coming in daily,” owner Kim Jurek-Valanzasca says. “We love how vibrant the neighborhood is and are so excited to continue making this neighborhood our home. I am thankful we made the jump to move here!”

The boutique has continued its seasonal EVOLVE fashion shows in Edina, and this year’s event from 6–9:30 p.m. on April 11 will mark its second spring show at the new location. Twenty six local designers will be showing off capsule collections that play off the boho chic cowgirl theme, and Jurek-Valanzasca says guests can expect designs that play with embroidery, fringe, feathers, ruffles and more. We spoke with her to learn more about the upcoming show.

The theme for The Fitting Room’s upcoming EVOLVE spring fashion show is boho chic cowgirl. What inspired this theme?

Every season we look at trends for the season, and many times that is how we land on a theme. This time around we had been saving this theme until the time felt right. With all of the fun boho trends coming out for spring, we couldn’t resist doing something playing off of that.

In your mind, what is the most exciting aspect about this particular show?

I love seeing the capsule collections that the designers come up with. Each designer has five looks and also provides additional pieces for the pop up. I love that you can purchase looks right off the runway. So often when attending a show, there isn’t a way to buy the items. It feels special to me that both clients and designers can meet and be inspired by each other.

In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, a portion of the ticket sales is being donated to the Autism Society of Minnesota, and Edina Magazine editor Feroza Mehta will be a guest speaker. How did this collaboration come about?

Feroza Mehta (Mrs. Minnesota International) has been to several of our shows and came to me through Rebecca Sorenson (the director of 50th & France) about this amazing cause. I am so happy that we can contribute in this special way. There will be more opportunities the evening of the show for guests to contribute as well. It feels right to find ways of supporting our community, especially right now.
