Kids’ toys can seem to multiply daily, and keeping them organized and entertaining can be a challenge. Reduce children’s proclamations of boredom by creating a rotating toy supply as an easy way to keep your toy area minimalist and fresh.
Step 1: Prepare Your Space.
Dedicate an empty area of a closet, basement or even garage to store toys not in use.
Step 2: Declutter, Donate or Dispose.
For younger children, it’s best done when they aren’t at home. Seeing you take something away can make it a sudden favorite.
Step 3: Sort and Minimize.
It’s overwhelming for a child to have too many toys out at one time. Keep out two or three puzzles at a time or one or two dolls, etc. Put the rest in the labeled bins and store them.
Step 4: Rotate.
Do a toy purge right before birthdays or holidays to make room for the new toys. Rotate toys out every one to two months. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel with less clutter underfoot, and by your child’s renewed interest in their toys.
