We got the details on Christopher Refsland’s drone shot of Centennial Lakes Park.

We regularly feature photo submissions from our Images of Edina photo contest in the pages of Edina Magazine and online. This month, we asked photographer Christopher Refsland to tell us about his photo titled “Longing For Spring.”

When and where was this photo taken?
Centennial Lakes Park

What inspired the shot?
I’ve always loved this particular section of the park. This particular day was right after a blizzard came through and I was curious to what the statue would look like from above with all the fresh snow and just happened to have brought my drone with me to work that day.

What’s your favorite thing about the image?
I would have to say the perspective of the image, one of my favorite things about drone photography is being able to see the world in perspectives that would be almost impossible to get without the use of the drone.

What type of camera did you use?
I used a DJI Spark.

Do you typically take aerial photos?
I used to all the time! I haven’t been able to much lately since joining the Navy, but I hope to again soon once I move to my duty station.
