Juli Seeger had a plan. The Edina resident was sitting at the September 27, 2024, Edina High School (EHS) football game with a friend, perched at the top of the bleachers near the 50 yard line. “My son [Logan] was a sophomore in the [EHS] marching band and was playing the mellophone in his first Homecoming game. I was the only person from my family able to attend the game, so I was in charge of taking photos of the band,” Seeger says. “Having seen the routine a few times, I knew what to expect. As the band was getting into formation to spell ‘Edina,’ I stood up and had a clear opportunity to get the shot. Everything cooperated at just the right moment, including the sunset.”
Seeger says her favorite part of the photo is that she captured a sense of tradition. “This could be any year on any Edina Homecoming game night in recent memory,” she says. “And that I was able to capture it fully surprised me, not only with the band, but with the Homecoming court and cheerleaders included.”
