Sever's Corn Maze

Looking for some fall fun without the scare tactics? Stop by Sever’s Farm and explore their famous annual corn maze. With this year’s theme as “Sever’s Express,” participants can wander through the large maze, which is cut to look like a train from an aerial view, and learn about train and locomotive history while doing it. When you find your way to the end, reward yourself with some Sever’s fresh roasted corn and other festival favorites. If attending after 7 p.m., bring a flashlight. The maze is weather contingent, so be sure to check the website. All ages. $13. Times vary.

More Free eBooks @ Your Library

Thanks to a new partnership between the Metropolitan Library Services Agency  (MELSA) and 3M Library Systems, users of the 100 metro public libraries in the seven-country metro now have free and fast access to thousands of additional eBooks.

To celebrate there will be a demonstration open to the public at the George Latimer Central Library in downtown St. Paul at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 4 and pop-up stands providing more information at Park and Rides and Farmers’ Markets.

Global Folk: Flamenco!

Instead of traveling to Spain, you can attend an authentic flamenco concert courtesy of Michael Hauser, a flamenco guitar expert who has performed all around the world. An hour of upbeat and lively music awaits those whose interest is piqued by multicultural musical experiences. The Meaning of Empowerment: The Slippery Slope of Incapacity

Many baby-boomers worry about the care needs for an elderly parent.  Their parents may live with the uncertainty of chronic illness and disability and have a whole host of planning issues.  However, either caregivers are overwhelmed with conflicting information or don't know where to seek help.  Such a lack of information, or the wealth of conflicting information, adds to their anxiety about caring for an elderly parent.  Indeed, it takes a team to protect an elderly person and every aspect of planning should be addressed.

Who's Watching Mom?

A home may be a refuge and a sanctuary from a world that is far less accomodating than most of us think.  One’s home may reflect years of memories,  enjoyment, comfort, and safty.  Although the vast majority of people express a desire to remain at home and receive care at home as they age, few individuals make the express directions or take the necessary advance steps required to effectuarte their desire.

Video Game Design

For the gamer in the family, this two-day course offers students a hands-on lesson in video game design and development. Participants will not only learn the basics of video game design, but they will produce their own interactive video games.
